These amazing epiphytes are some of the coolest plants you can grow! To be clear, they need light and water (they’re still plants!) but they do not require soil, since in nature they live hanging off the sides of trees. We recommend soaking instead of misting and letting them dry completely upside down before they go back in their spots. They can flower only once in their lives, and then they can make baby air plantlets!

A Closer Look

Most air plants have a central crown, and if water gets trapped in the bottom without evaporating, they can perish. This is why it’s so important to dry them upside down completely. The only exception is Spanish moss, which is not a moss at all! You’ll also find that some of our air plants are colored. Depending on the variety, this color may be natural, or artificial from a non-toxic paint added by the grower.
